The Journey To Forever
My love for you is a journey; starting at forever and ending at
never.
We’ve learned to know each other in the way we are far apart,
our hands touching between the seats of a subway car.
We’ve learned to treasure each other in the way we are near,
our bodies cramped together on your sister’s couch.
We’ve learned to protect each other in the way we are strong,
my arm around your shoulders as you sob in my kitchen.
We’ve learned to be patient with each other in the way we are
flawed,
our voices carrying for blocks through the windows of your car.
But this is the best part of our journey: knowing that we will
never stop.
