Reading Is Dreaming with Open Eyes

 

When I read, my mind wanders.

 

I’ve always thought reading was a way of dreaming with open eyes.

 

So when I read, I don’t “see” words; rather, they render images in my head.

 

Sometimes I read fast and nothing comes to me but blankness

—pages turn without meaning.

 

But when I read slowly, carefully, the words and images come together.

 

Every time I read I see something new, so reading is like dreaming with open eyes.
