I am a river, a river running eastward AKSHR

I am a river, a river running eastward

Ever flowing River of change river Indus

In the hot sun the city of Karachi

Lies on the coast of Arabian Sea

The people here are mainly Muslim and largely illiterate.

Without a home, I am homeless.

I live with my mother in one room, with no windows or doors.

My father is not around, he has gone to Mecca for pilgrimage.

My mother works as a child minder, takes care of children at home.

She turns me over to her sister while she's away working.
