A Bird in a Cage
a bird in cage
waits for a voice
that never arrives
he rests his head
on a cold thin wire
and closes his eyes
he sleeps in the darkness
of himself
he dreams of his time as a boy
when he flew freely over the
woods and
rivers, lakes and mountains
he dreams of his time as a bird
when he was free to fly
but now he waits
for the voice that never arrives
until it's too late
