Give a man a fire
Give a
man a fire and
keep him
warm for a day.
Light a
man on fire and
he will be
warm for rest of his life.
Without words,
the man becomes a flame.
A flame that we could
all stand near without fear:
a beacon
in the night;
a warmth
against our faces;
a tell of
what is to come.
The fire tells secrets.
It tells stories.
And it helps us forget our past,
at least for a while.
To be kinder to one another,
we need only listen and learn;
to stop burning one another,
we must first stop burning ourselves.
Until then, I will be warm
when I see a flame.
