The End of the World

 

Believe with your eyes, not with your ears.

I have seen the end of the world and

I know this is not it. I have seen

the sky pulse with lightning, a child

witness a miracle, and held my breath

in front of an eclipse. I have seen

the horizon shift as water parts on rocks.

Without a sound. Above me stars glow in

a sky that is not cloudy but clear.

This is a world where I can see the end

and know it is not here.
