Nothing
Nothing proceeds from
nothingness,
as also nothing passes away
into non-existence.
Nothing is never nothing,
though it seems so.
Nothing can be thought to
exist without being .
Nothing is what I have heard
and what I have spoken.
Without it, speech would not exist.
Without it, silence would not exist.
Nothing is the first principle of existence,
yet nothing has no principle of existence.
I am seized by my own face in the mirror —
dark eyes, white hair,
the mouth speaking words
that are nothing and mean everything:
Nothing proceeds from nothingness.
