The Summer We Fell Asleep
Morning comes, and the house is dark, the curtains drawn.
Outside, a lawn sprinkler hums over grass that's wet with dew.
Without a watch I have no way of knowing what time it is,
just that dawn must be near.
My eyes fall on the clock beside your empty pillow
: 5:15 A.M.
I'm tired, but I can't sleep
