The Treasure Motive in Poetry
Treasure beyond measure lies within
the language of poetry.
No one can measure it, no one can take
it except the poet.
The treasure lies in the poem, in the
words of a poem.
It is always there, ready to be
unearthed, to be taken out of hiding.
It may be hidden in a poem, but it is always
there.
It may be hidden in the words of a
poem, but it is always there.
It may be hidden in a line of poetry, but
it is always there.
It may be hidden in a word of poetry, but
it is always there.
It may be hidden in the silence
between two syllables,
but it is always there.
