Judges ought to remember that their office is jus decree and not jus dare; to interpret law and not to make or give law
They ought to remember that their office is jus decree and not jus dare;
Not to make law, but to interpret law—not to give law, but to declare what the law is;
That they are not legislators, but exors of the laws created by the people;
That their office is to declare the law, and not to make law.
