Of how to get out of the heat & dirt of the factory floor, 

into the office with air conditioning 

and a window looking out on the city.

Without reading, there is no way to get 

a good job that pays well enough to put food on the table.

Without reading, you will stay in the same place forever.

And that's just not right.
