Make that a rose
If you love a flower, don’t pick it up.
Because if you pick it up it dies
and
it ceases to be what you love.
So if you love a flower, let it be.
Love is not about possession.
Love is about appreciation
and care and nourishment.
If you love a flower, let it be.
Let it be in the world.
And if you love someone,
don’t hold them too close,
for fear
that you’ll drown each other.
Instead, learn to breathe together.
Breathe together and don’t try to own
one another.
For when you try to own something,
it
dies and ceases to be what you love.
