Waiting for They Were Counted
I will remember always
that marriage,
like life,
is a journey –
not a destination –
and that
its treasures are found
not just at the end
but all along the way.
When the two of us
were first in love ,
we knew nothing
about ourselves,
almost nothing
about each other.
We did not know
how far we were going.
Nor did we know that
we would want to go on.
We had no idea then
of what lay ahead.
Now I am grateful for all
that has happened,
all that has been
given to us –
that you would
come into my life,
that I would
come into yours.
